This was written for a challenge, use the phrase "Dark Heart" in a poem.

I lived among the streets and dusty lanes.
I lived without a roof and weather vanes.
Summer heat was always a deadly thing
Sweating like a lover without a fling.

In tents, I lived, a wrung beneath Man
On the ladder of life we keep at hand.
Onward and forward, still I marched.
A keeper of a traveler�s dark heart.

No love, no life, no atmosphere
To even take hold that I was here.
Ten days a week melting in the sun
To tend the land that others do call fun.

A carnival set up, paint oozing down
Melted by the sky- the vicious clown.
Night, I begged to never again depart
I wanted to love its cool dark heart.

I lived among the streets and dusty lanes
I lived through starvation and such pains.
Gypsy life is a very difficult art
You have to live with society�s dark heart.
