Your word-picture is very vivid. I don't see a slobbering, broken person here, but a wiser, reflective one who still hasn't become so bitter as not to start over again with a clean slate. The strength of this work lies in the common experience of disappointment in love, and the author's rising out of the ashes. Liked it!
