Hälfte ihres Vermögens für wohltätige Zwecke spenden: Sie
schlossen sich einer von Microsoft-Gründer Bill Gates und
Investment-Guru Warren Buffett im Juni ins Leben gerufenen
entsprechenden Kampagne an. Zu den Spendern zählen der
Medienmogul Ted Turner, New Yorks Bürgermeister Michael
Bloomberg, Oracle-Mitbegründer Larry Ellison, Bankier
David Rockefeller und Investor Ronald Perelman. Das teilte
die Gruppe „The Giving Pledge“ (Das Spendenversprechen)
auf ihrer Internetseite am Mittwoch mit. Auch Hollywood-
Regisseur George Lucas steht auf der Liste. „Ich gebe die
Mehrheit meines Vermögens, um Bildung zu verbessern“, sagt
er. „Das ist der Schlüssel für das Überleben der
Menschheit. Wir müssen für eine kollektive Zukunft planen -
und der erste Schritt beginnt mit der sozialen,
emotionalen und intellektuellen Hilfe, die wir unseren
Kindern geben.“
