I again am in agreement with you. I grew up in a strong traditional family on a farm. The lessons and life experience I gained are the cornerstone of who I have become. Unforetunately strong traditional families are a dying breed. Farms and land are disappearing. This generation is more comfortable with being locked away in their homes. When I was a child we only had three tv channels so we spent most of our time outside running through the corn fields, walking the old dirt road, and playing in the creek where we caught turtles and frogs. We also had wild mulberry and boysenberry bushes where we collected the fruit for our parents to make jelly. These experiences and depth to life are not prevalent today. We are crumbling as a society. You can not educate our youth enough on the importance of outdoor play. Each year in my area we hold a get up, turn off(the tv), and get out and play day. We do a boat and canoe presentation, the cub scouts are there and there are cultural games and activities. I do a native presentation with a friend of mine and there is dancing and rock climbing. It's a start but more needs to be done. If others would just educate our children and pull them away from the tv and video games, provide them with the oppurtunities to explore our natural world they could learn so much and fulfill every need. Nature provides in so many ways.
