Subject: Trail of Tears

I would like to hear from anyone who has history concerning Moccasin Springs near Cape Girardeau, Mo. One of my ancestors,William Sheppard was said to have maintained a woodyard for fueling Mississippi River Steamers and kept a store where he traded goods with the Native American. There is also a plaque telling about Sheppards Point. Any info would be helpful.
