PUBLIC ENEMY
According to Public Enemy's Chuck D., MTV has banned their "Gotta Give The
People What They Need" video. The song contains references to
controversial incarcerated figure Mumia Abu-Jamal, which MTV objected to.
"If they think having a political view point in music is irrelevant, it's
because they've taken the Nazi approach in censoring it themselves," Chuck
D. said.

QUEEN LATIFAH - FLAVA UNIT
Queen Latifah has re-launched her Flava Unit Records imprint, with a
unique twist. Artists signed to Flava Unit will also be "partners" in the
label, split royalties 50/50 and will own their masters after recording
costs have been recouped. "We're trying to empower artist and give them a
chance to own themselves," Latifah told AllHipHop. "Everybody else has
owned us, here's your chance to own yourself."
