You should know what's a separating funnel. I have shown it to all of you before. Remember the other time when I demonstrated how a mixture of oil and water can be separated? Both liquids are immisicible, so they can by simply separated by using a separating funnel.

You should heard of Liebig condenser since lower sec. This is simply the normal condenser you used for distillation. Liquid water can be used to condense a substance whose boilint point is above 0°C and below 100°C.

As for question 12, the best answer is D because when one part of P is mixed with two parts of pure cyclohexene, it lowers it's melting point, this shows that P acts as an impuity to cyclohexene. The ansewer cannot be A, because P has a fixed melting point.

Decanting means carefully pouring off the liquid and leaving the undissolved soild at the bottom of the beaker. It is quicker than filtration but separationmay not be so effective. For question 20, the mercury will sink to the bottom of the beaker, so we can just carefully pour away the alcohol leaving the mercury behind!
