Subject: '93 Wagon Transmission

My '93 SOHC Wagon at 145,000 miles is starting to hesitate every so often, especially when climbing hills. My mechanic thinks it's transmission related. Any thoughts? Also, any recommendations as to what to do if the trans is bad. Does this usually mean a whole replacement? Are reman trans any good? Any brand/shop that's particularly good?
