Subject: Let's have more discussion here...

Well, since nobody has posted with anything recently, I'm going to put out some of my ideas for the awards that I've seen thus far. It's then up to anyone who posts after me to tell me why my ideas are dumb and not thought-out. After all, I thought this was supposed to be where things are debated and argued, with everybody posting a bunch of times with reasons why some ideas are better than others. Cause right now, this area has basically turned into like answering a poll... give your one thought, then you're done. I don't know about any of you, but I want DEBATE!!! I want ARGUMENT!!! I want CONVERSATION!!! I want somebody to tell me when I'm about to make a horribly stupid decision on my ballot!!!

Okay... now my thoughts...

BEST WRESTLER: Okay, I went to the title histories and did some minor calculating from 7/2/98 (the night of the last awards dinner). Here’s what I found… Sire was NWC champ for approximately 8 weeks, and MCW champs for about 4. Manson was NWC tag champ for 5 weeks, MWA tag champ for 3 weeks, and MWA champ for 7 months. Dread Saxon was NWC champ for 10 weeks, and MCW champ for 13 weeks. These were the biggest 3. Now as a newbie, I could make some judgements off of this, but unfortunately these are just weeks of the calendar, and do not translate into the number of times the belts were defended. So this is where some other info would be helpful from those of you who were privy to these title runs. Did they defend with regularity? Were they unblemished victories? Were the title runs decisive? Let me hear your thoughts...

BEST TAG TEAM: Atlas and Pride were NWC champs for 9 weeks, but had no regional success. Black Ops were NWC champs for about 4 weeks total over their two runs, but also spent 5 months as LSW tag champions. The Outlanders were NWC for about 5 weeks, and have only recently dethroned Black Ops in LSW. The big question here is, how many defenses did Black Ops have over their 5 month reign as LSW tag champs, and what was the quality of the opponents? That could be a big deciding factor in determining their status.

BEST CRUISERWEIGHT (235-): Aerts was J-Crown champ for 3 months, although from what I understand, it wasn't defended as a title that often at the beginning. Lightning has been the champ now for about a month. The most successful regional cruiserweight has been Woobs in LSW… champion for 13 weeks, spread out over two title reigns.

MOST POPULAR WRESTLER: I’m hearing Sabuani’s name pop up time after time. I’m not real familiar with him, but when I read his bio, it said he was cocky and arrogant. So the question I have is, does he write Sabuani as a face in his posts and interviews, or is it that he is just a popular CHARACTER amongst us, despite the fact he is more a tweener or heel? Because there are many, many characters who are popular amongst us handlers, but amongst the “fans of the NWC”, wouldn’t be considered faces. And this seems to be a question of “in game” opinion to me. For instance, Tony Pride is a popular character amongst us, but in the game’s reality, he’s a heel. Is this award for "in-game" or "out-of-game" popularity?

MOST HATED WRESTLER: This one is a bit easier, since we all know guys like Sinister and Sire are played as heels, and we accept them as heels. Other names I’ve heard have been Ray Pierce, Pride, Sullivan, Britton… Any other major heels we should know about?

MOST IMPROVED: Some of my thoughts… The Outlanders have been in existence for over a year, and have finally reached some pinacles here (NWC and LSW tag straps). Meltdown has gone on from mid-card status to currently being one of the favorites to be HIW champ. Anybody I’m missing?

BEST NEWCOMER: (1-3 months as of AEL2) In terms of fanfare, Devo Tremors has been given the most recognition, but has actually only wrestled a couple times up to this point, although he could win the J-Crown title shot when it gets posted tonight(?) Should he win that, then defeat (or put up a good showing against) Lightning, then he’s a valid choice. Should he lose, though, we might want to keep our eyes open to see who else might be doing well in terms of “in-game” success.

BEST MANAGER/VALET: Only ones I’m familiar with personally are Troy Clifton and Luther. But again, my question is… is this based on “most popular” manager or “most creative” manager, or “most well-RP’d manager”, or are we voting based on how well they have gotten (and/or retained) shots and titles for the people they manage? There are plenty of popular manager and valet "characters" out there, but very few which have directly contributed to the success of the wrestlers they manage. I hear the name Desade a lot, but I know nothing about her. What has she done that would make her the best?

All of the rest of the categories I have no real first-hand, personal experience knowledge of. I also am unaware of who has done the most for these categories. Basically on these I’ll probably just pick on a whim. But we have plenty of time before our votes have to go in. Let’s hear from all of you some reasons WHY the people you put down should get their awards. A lot of people are saying WHO they would choose, but not WHY they would choose them. That does me (as a recent inductee into the NWC) no real good, when trying to come up with my own opinions, especially in these categories when I don’t know the participants as well as I should to make an intelligent choice.

Thank you all for listening, and I hope to hear from you on this board again.
