Dear Cjb:
Thanks for your kind words. I'm sorry I didn't read your question in advance to get the rates for ads, but I can find out for you and email you at a later date. As far as promotion goes, I'm hoping that new AD Shawn Brennan will bring a fresh approach to marketing and come up with some new ideas to attract bigger crowds. Iona hasn't been getting the job done promoting its excellent program since I started covering the Gaels. I think more Friday night games to draw more students would help. Also, a MAAC Midnight Madness type of game on ESPN 2 and more non-conference games against quality foes would pack the Mulcahy Center to the rafters. Shawn did a great job for the MAAC in getting TV games, etc., and I think he'll do the same for Iona. Unfortunately, when you're a successful mid-major like Iona, it's difficult to get teams to come to the Mulcahy Center. This year, Iona has just two non-conference games against Akron and Fordham on the schedule, so I guess it'll be another year of lean crowds. Too bad because it's a great product. Iona tried a promotion with our paper last year, but it snowed. Hopefully, we'll try it again this year, due a little more advance work and pray for good weather. It was a good idea that I believe SID Mike Laprey came up with.
