Subject: Labor Day Picnic

The LWCA sponsored a free community Labor Day picnic Sunday, Spetember 2. The weather was perfect. About 50 neighbors visited with us. We feasted upon hamburgers, hotdogs, shish kebobs, italian sausage, all kinds of salads and desserts. The paddle boat was launched, we had some friendly competition with the kids : a sack race, a balloon race, and a relay race. The playground, beach, volley ball and basket ball courts were all put to good use. Neighbors got the opportunity to get together and socialize. Thanks to everyone who helped contribute for making this event a success. We received donations of help, cash and food. A special thanks to Mark and Consuelo Turado for coordinating the menu, doing all the cooking, food preparation, and barbequing. This event would not have gotten off the ground without the generous contribution of their time and labor. The Lake Winona community should be proud to have the Turado family living here!

To anyone thinking about recreating the fun in the future: Just commit the idea TO DO IT. Have a plan, make a few phone calls, formulate a budget and advertise. The LWCA facilities are there for Members to use. Take advantage of your Member benefits!
