Subject: A Lake Winona Celebration wrap-up

Wow and Whew! The Lake Winona Celebration Project was a total immersion experience. I am happy to have guided the process, in awe that it was such a success, and relieved it’s over (for now). It took until Tuesday the 16th to recover from the intensity of the last minute work Saturday and Sunday. From everyone to whom I spoke, it was hailed as a wonderful day.

The occasion was truly joyous, and all of our objectives were more than met. Lake Winona raised some money for its dam restoration work. Recognition by State Senator Bucco helped to heighten awareness of our organization’s mission. Local television and print media will serve to disseminate the word also. John Sheehan performed a great opening set and announced our new coffee house music series. GrooveLily performed an energetic and flawless show and won many new fans.

I guess I am the self-effacing type, and I was thanked far too often for my taste, but I do appreciate the honor and I would like to hold up the mirror and also thank everyone who supported this project. I did get a lot of help, particularly on the day of the event when I found that my role as organizer/MC was more than enough to handle.

My "Thank You’s" go out to my wife, Denise and son, Eric; to President and Vice-President Chris and Karen Natale; to my friend John Thomas; to Rev. and Mrs. Rich and Diane Ballard and the Members of the Phoenix Rising Church for their invaluable help with the food handling; to Maura Ollo and Ron Nitti, Mary Beth Tripodi, Lou Thompson and Shannon Koch, and to everyone else who helped with the clean up work. Thanks to Councilman Michael Sanchelli, State Senator Tony Bucco and Jefferson Highlight’s Art Bonito. By the way, we will receive a copy of the Jefferson Highlights program on the Lake WInona Celebration and will be notified of its air date. The show runs on the Cablevision system in northern New Jersey.

Thanks to Rob and Terry Bond and Adam Wolf for ably handling the Lili-Mart Table. As Sunday approached, it became obvious that I was going to need some Petal Pushers’ help. Finally, special thanks go out to Valerie, Brendan and Gene for creating the music and the magic. Thank you, thank you everyone, from the bottom of my heart!
