SOME OF THE STORIES I HAVE COLLECTED

Boy, 12yo, USA cystoscopy combined with sigmoidoscopy

I had cystoscopy - I am male. The exam took place in North America. usa 12 years old. Before 1960. Had cystoscopy in a health centre. Got now explanation. The exam was a total surprize.

PREPARATIONS AND ARRANGEMENTS

Had to stop eating several hours before the cystoscopy. Given laxatives at home before the exam. Got to a special preparation room. Had to undress completely and go to bed. Given enema during preparations. Had to walk by myself to the exam. God lubricating and pain-killing fluid inserted in through the pee-hole. Was totally naked during exam. Lay on back with legs in stirrups.

HOW THE EXAM WAS PERFORMED

They put a rigid stick-like cystoscope in through the urethra. They took out the scope and inserted a new scope to take further specimens. They inserted an ultrasond probe in through the anus to inspect the bladder and genital area. They inspected with a scope some way up into the colon - sigmoidoscopy.

ARRANGEMENTS AND FOLLOW-UPS

Had catheter in the bladder some time after the exam. Got medicines into urethra with a syringe after the exam. Diagnosis - urinary infection. Got mediaction for infection. Had to have a cathetherization routine. The reason was urinary infection. It was humiliating or awful.

COMMENTS

Ultrasound was not used at that time so what is reported as an ultrasound porbe was posibly something other.

It is common practice to perform cystoscopies on boys that have had urinary tract infection to see if there is some anatomical deformity that could explain the susceptibility for infection. In this case they found out that there still was microbes in the urinary system. But this does not explain the lower digestive procedure. There might be other reasons too not told about, or perhaps this society just had it as routine.

Possibly all boys at that age had this combine procedure at this age in this society and an unknon infection was detected. In some societies this is a standard, and this seems to have begun in the late 1950es.

I am a female. I was a school-aged child, 11yo, year 2000 or after. In eastern Europe. I was examined at home by a strange man and my uncle.

OVERVEIEW OF THE EXAMINATION

They examined my genitals. They examined my rectal zone. They inserted instruments into my vagina. They inserted instruments into my rectal opening. They performed a neurologic exam with electrodes on my body. They performed a psychological exam.

ARRANGEMENTS

I was given pain-killing or sedative shots. I was totally naked. My positions during the exam: different Any strange equipment or arrangements in the exam room? ties and clamps.

THE EXAM STEP BY STEP

Firstly they undressed me, then check feets soles hands, therafter genital check, forthly pain check. The exam ended by me passing out.

JUDGEMENT

INTIMATE EXAM

They used a catheter to collect urine. They spread my genital lips to look inside. They examined my vagina with a speculum. They examined my rectum and terminal colon with a flexibal scope.

SYMPTOMS AFTER THE EXAM

I had a strange pain or irritation down my throut after the exam as if I had been secretly intobated. New exams as follow up.

COMMENTS

Based on the fact that she passed out and had symptoms from her thout thereafter, and the presence of clamps and ties, it looks like they gave her anesthesia somewaym hold her mouth open with that ewuipment and performed so kuc of endoscopic exam or specimen smpling inside her thout also.

Yhis looks like an exam to investigate inapproved sexual habbits, other habits of concern for the society, or possible sexual abuse, by mens of a manner wich in itself is abusive. By such exams some kind of reaction testing is usully performed, but the methods seem to vary considerably. The neurological testing might have this purpose.

Possibly the uncle reported something to some kind of authority, then came to her home by a doctor or health professional associated with the child protective system, police or school health service.

It is usual that some familiar person are together with the child in these settings, so the uncle being present does not seem strange, especially if the uncle had brought her parents under suspicion, but again the naturalness is higly culturally dependent.

I am a female. I was a school-aged child. My exact age when this occured: 11 The exam occured in USA, Year 2000 or after.

I was examined in a health centre, taken there by mom in her car. A doctor examined mer with no other person present.

Who did the exam? Doctor Who was also present during the exam? Just Docter

OVERVIEW OF WHAT THET DID

They examined my genitals. They made interrogations about my social relations and my daily life, measured height, felt boobs, looked in privates Then I got dresed.


INTIMATE EXAM

They did not examne my urinary system. They spread my genital lips to look inside. They spread my cheeks and examined extarnally my rectal zone. They examined my rectum with an inserted finger. The exam took a very long time.


OBSERVATIONS AND JUDGEMENT

What do you think was the reason for this exam? idk What is your opinion about this experience? didnt like it. The exam did not result in any diagnosis.


COMMENTS

This look like an exam to see if the girl had unaproved sexual habits or was subjected to abuse. The exam as reported has little value as a health check.

They probably also took specimens with swabs, even not reported. Interrogation, specimen taking, looking very closely and testing with fingers or objects for reactions is typical for such exams. She repported strange equipment without specifying, This might have been a camera called colposcope or mounted cameras to take pictures and video, which also typically is used for such exams.

Probably there were other persons in a sideroom watching the reactions of the girl during the exam and interrogation. If she saw other persons coming and mounting some other room, this points to that.

Girl, 12yo, Russia, development check with pelvic focus in a van

I am female. It happened in Russia. 1970-1979, 12 years old. We were told at school that a special medical van would be at the school and that girls were to be given extensive medicals. My understanding was that it was for sports but the exam was more about our reproductive systems and development.

It happened in a great ambulating van equipped for doing the exams. A selected percentage of the children in my school of the age group.

Our parents had been given notes letting them know we were to be examined. However, nothing was said about the type of exam we'd be having. Our group was girls only and seemed to be 10 to 13 year olds. Some not developed, some starting like me, and some mostly developed. I believe boys were sent on another day.

PREPARATIOIN AND ARRANGEMENTS

I was not allowed to eat ome time before the exam. I mostly only had my underwear on the time I stayed awake. I had to take all my clothes off just before I got anesthesia. The staff took my clothes of some time before the anesthesia had made its effect.

They placed me upon a simple examination table.",,,,"I was placed to lay on my back with my legs flexed up, spread and mounted upon two devices. I got a device on a finger or a toe to measure pulse and oxygen in my blood, a blood pressure monitor wrapped around an arm or a toe.

I got anesthesia gas to breath in through a mask. The anesthesia made me relaxed, but I was conscious. I was placed on my back for most of the exam. However, some parts of the exam required that my legs be wide apart and in slings. Mostly while they examined my intimate areas.

After waking I was placed on my hands and knees, with my head lowered and bottom up, for exams of my bottom and again of my vaginal area.

EXAM OVERVIEW

They examined my stomach area with and ultrasound device or something similar. They took chest x-ray pictures. They took stomach x-ray pictures. They took x-ray pictures of my shoulder area. They took x-ray pictures of my hip area.

They inspected the inside of my throut with a scope.

The doctor explored my vagina with a finger. They used a speculum in my vagina. They took specimens from my vagina with a tube. They inspected my vagina with a scope.They inspected me through my vagina with an ultrasound probe.

They inspected my anus with a speculum. The doctor explored my anus with a finger.

THE EXAM AS REMEMBERED BY THE GIRL

I was a virgin and just developing so I'm not sure what they were looking for. I was only partially awake during the examination of my vulva and vagina and I remember some pain when they inserted a little metal instrument in me. The finger inside hurt as well and I was sore for several days afterwards. However, I did become a bit wet from the finger insertion.

There were comments about my sexual development as well and things were said about my breasts, clitoris, openings, and vaginal health. It seemed like they, 2 males and a female, spent a lot of time examining my vaginal area. There was a lot of touching and I'm pretty sure some photos were taken. A finger was in my vagina for quite sometime and I remember feeling it move around inside me.

An ultrasound instrument was partially inserted but it hurt too much and caused me to bleed. A number of measurement were taken of my overall body, my breasts, which were very small, and my vulva and anal areas. A lot of comments were made about my developmental stage.

A second exam of my vulva was done while I was on my hands and knees for the anal part of the exam. I was a wake for that.

ARRANGEMENTS AFTER THE EXAM

I just lay some time in a bed to recover, naked under a blanket after the exam after being just taken to a bed to recover. I was naked under the blanket, except for a pad between my legs, and my vaginal area was checked several times. After about 2 hours the bus took us back to school and our parents took us home afterwards.

THE SCHOOL I ATTENDED

I attended private boarding school. It was a private school in a rural area.

COMMENTS

This exam seems to be to get an exact picture or the development staus of each girl, an probably the boys too, and to check for problems kids often get in their intimate zones in the perpubertal stage that can get more serious later.

The purpose seems to be to have knowledge of each kid so that heshe could be dealt with in the best way at the school, and so that problems could be corrected. Probably they also checked for uneanted sexual activities the kids might have.

The exam might also had research and statistical ourposes.

This kind of exam are performed in selected communities or schools all over the world, but spoken very litttle about publicly and there does not seem ro be any difference between the patterns in communist regimes and western regimes, which points to some international coordination.

It could be interesting to know if there were some follow-up exams or treatments for any of the girls or boys.

I am male.It happened in North America. Before 1970. 11 year old. At a doctors office.

PREPARATIONS

I was not allowed to eat ome time before the exam. I got laxatives to clean out my stomach at the place where the exam took place. They washed my body before the exam. I got a traditional enema before the exam to clean out my stomach.

I was totally naked through alll the procedures. I was placed to lay on my back with my legs flexed up spread and mounted upon two devices.I did not get any anesthesia.

EXAMINATIONS WITH EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT

They performed an ECG. functional test of the heart function with electrodes on my chest and other body areas. They performed an analysis of my breathing and oxygen uptake where I had to breath into a tube. I had to do some physical work like cycling or running on a threadmill when the ECG and breathing analysis was performed.

They examined my upper body with an ultrasound device or something similar. They examined my stomach area with and ultrasound device or something similar.

They examined my genitals with an ultrasound device. They had electrodes at my genitals to record functions in this area.

INTERNAL INSPECTIONS

They inspected the inside of my urethra and bladder with a scope. They took specimens from my urethra with a tube. They took specimens from my bladder with a tube. The tube going in my penis was interesting. it hurt a little but I did get an erection.

The doctor explored my anus with a finger. They inspected my anus with a speculum. They took specimens from my anus with a tube. They inspected me through my anus high up with a flexible scope.

ARRANGEMENTS AFTER THE EXAM

I had catheter into my bladder. I lay with my legs in stirrups some time after the exam.

THE SCHOOL I ATTENDED

I attended ordinary daytime school.

COMMENTS

This was probably a syandard, but extensive well-child exam that this community did on all or many kids before puberty. These examinations at specific age levels have a tradition back to the 1950es in certain communities.

What is reported as a flexible scope through the anus, was most priobable a thick tube with parts to take specimens or to measure dimmentions high up in the colon, since flexible scopes were not commonly used at that time.
