*Starting to remember how her dam had fought, and other fights she'd seen, Fire rears up, tossing her head hard. Freeing herself from Sweet Grass's hold, she turns on her way down and almost lands on other mare. She snakes her head up as if to bite at the mare's face, but wheels and kicks out at the last second, connecting the other mare's forelegs with her back hooves. She quickly moves out from Sweet Grass, and circles her warily, ears still flat to her poll. Blood from her crest begins to mat her mane, and the bite on her shoulder has started to clot. Tail lashing angrily, muscles taut, she closes in again, snapping her jaws shut on Sweet grass's neck, and opening a small wound*
