Hi Guys - If any of you are thinking of being a psychologist in the future (had it with the pessimism and alienation that soci can bring), I can possibly arrange for some temporary work attachments with some organisations for you.

WIFM (I hate this phrase but)
Excellent exposure to the organisational work
see what occupational psychology is about
see what applying psychology in business settings is about (including all the joys and downsides of it)
Looks good on your CV because the organisations are of good repute
Helps you think through what sort of Psych work you might be interested in (or potentially hate) eheheheheh

W NOT IFM
No money (unless they are nice enough to give a "token" allowance)
Work is likely to be mundane and administrative - though if you enjoy participant observation, you can "read" alot into the workings of capitalism.

I sound cynical, but don't be. Working life, unlike the distanced ironic stance of being sociologist, means getting in there and doing something. Not just studying things from afar and with little personal investment.

Guys - come and see me, but only if you are going to be working hard when you are on the attachment, and you are really interested in learning about Psychology. If I recommend you, it reflects on me too, okay? Be critical if you wish, but be tactfully critical on the job.

;-)
Alice
