Subject: WW1 Medals

I have two medals from WW1 for a family member.
Can anyone help me identify the service for a WW1 Medal inscribed:
1914-1918 5223.2.A.M. G Hardy R.A.F.
the other inscribed "The Great War for Civilisation 1914-1918"
Apparently he lived around the Leicester Forest East area and was a Bookmaker (Bookie) taking bets on horses etc., and he had an office in the Royal Arcade in the High Street in Leicster.
Cannot find any reference to this in the Medal Roll at NA
Any help appreciated.
