Author: James "Da Maniac" Jones
Subject: Keen Acumen

- For some people, failure is everything. It haunts them. It leaves them feeling insecure. Lost. Betrayed by their own words. It was like this that James "Da Maniac" Jones, the WWS/MCW Unified World Champion felt, as he sat in the sitting room of his home. Though the central heating was on full blast and the fire was blazing hot, James Jones felt as cold as ice. He saw the camera, but took no notice of it. Today was beyond caring about some idiot trespassing on his property. Jones didn't blink. It wasn't like he didn't want to - He just couldn't. "Da Maniac" was in such a daze that his eyes physically would not close and open again. The Unified Champion's feet felt numb, as if a thousand thumbtacks had been stuck into them and now he was feeling the effects of it. He hadn't slept. The bags under his eyes and his lifeless expression proved this. Jones' hair was a mess, not combed nor gelled back. Nor had he shaved. A slight outline of dark hair had appeared in the form of a goatee. James might have known this; if he did he didn't seem conscious of it. The WWS World Title lay in a crumpled heap over in the corner of the room. It didn't seem so shiny to James anymore. The MCW World Title was on the couch opposite to where he sat. James' condition was not one expected from a World Champion of leading company in the WeWA. But suddenly... -

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

- "Da Maniac" groaned in annoyance. Of all the times when someone could call to him - why now? James struggled to his feet, leaning on the door for support to ensure a steadier balance. His feet wobbled like jelly, but he managed to stay on his feet, as he slowly trudged to the front door. Quietly he peeped out of the spy-hole in the door to see a man he did not recognise. Frowning he wondered what to do. The knock came again, and now James Jones opened the door. The man standing there took a step back in shock. This wasn't the Unified Champion, was it? -

[ MAN ] "Mr. Jones, Madd Maxx here from xZone Magazine of the WeWA and an MCW representative. Just wondering what are your thoughts on The Fallen's victory over you and the Enigma twist all in one?"

[ MANiAC ] "Go away."

- James turned to walk back inside, realising now that Madd Maxx had just seen the state that he was in. Madd Maxx however was on the doorstep now, right in James' face. -

[ MADD MAXX ] "This isn't an Interview, James, in case you think it is. You know me from the MCW; I'm one of the few who actually care about people around here."

- "Da Maniac" was suspicious, but he wasn't thinking straight to put up a logical argument. He stood back and allowed Madd Maxx to walk inside. Maxx breathed a huge sigh of relief. Jones pointed to the sitting room, where Madd Maxx went. Jones excused himself for a moment and walked into the bathroom. James let the tap run for several seconds before splashing cold water all over his face in an effort to liven him up somewhat. He then rubbed some water through his hair to keep it looking even half respectable. Satisfied with what he did, "Da Maniac" walked out of the bathroom and back to the sitting room, where Madd Maxx had made himself comfortable on the couch where the MCW World Title was. Jones retired back to the couch he was on before the door had been knocked on, and looked up at Madd Maxx, slightly sheepishly though tried best not to show it. -

[ MADD MAXX ] "How are you feeling James?"

[ MANiAC ] "I'm not goin' to lie to you Maxx and tell you that I'm feeling brilliant and on top of the world, 'cause I don't and it would have been pointless in me allowin' you to talk to me if I was goin' to just lie for the whole time. I feel like sh*t, to put it as blunt but realistic as possible. I had not contemplated the option of losin' to The Fallen, whatever the circumstances. I KNEW however, that he couldn't have beaten me on his own, one-on-one, and I was right. Though there's not an awful lot of a consolation in that. At the same time, I cannot point the finger at The Fallen, call him a cheat and tell him he truly didn't deserve to win. He DIDN'T deserve to win, yes, but he is not at fault for this. It was only the week previous to Saturday Night if you can remember, Maxx, when it was The Fallen who lost to Enigma because of the Scream Killer. Enigma did not DESERVE to win the match that week. The scenario is the same, though the characters are different, I think it's fair to say. This time it's me who's the cheated, Fallen is the one who takes advantage, and Enigma is the one who costs me the fight. To worsen matters, I fight The Crusher in two days' time for the Unified Titles, yet I still haven't woken up from this nightmare of losin' to The Fallen. Do you know how The Fallen is goin' to react? He's goin' to call me a liar, a phoney and loser...and he can't be proven wrong from Saturday night. Maxx, I usually would take no notice of my adversaries' words, but this time Fallen can say what he likes, 'cause it shall be true. That's an awfully long-winded answer for your Maxx, but I feel you can work it out from my answer that I don't feel too great."

- James gave as decent a smile as he could manage. It looked like the smile of a tired and defeated warrior. Maxx nodded his head, grave concern on his face. He, like most people, had never seen James Jones like this. -

[ MADD MAXX ] "Look at you James. I don't want to say this; but you're a sty. You need to shave, wash and sleep all in one. This one fight is making you sacrifice everything you've worked so hard to get. Are you willing to throw away over two years' of dominance over one stupid fight? You have Crusher in a few days like you said. Surely you don't want him to be facing half the opponent he should be? You'll get your pay-back with Enigma. Johnson, BBB or Manson will grant you a fight with him if that's what you want. But damn it James, snap out of it. This is not how the MCW's Unified Champion should be. And you know that more than anyone."

[ MANiAC ] "Look, I appreciate you comin' over here and takin' time out of your own day, but I think I need some time on my own to clear my head. Maxx, it's nothin' against you as a person, I would be sayin' this to just about anyone that comes near me today. As you can see I'm not in the best condition right now. So I need to sort things out on my own. There are some things I have to figure out as well. Like why exactly did Enigma attack me and prevent me from winnin' the fight? Was all the helpin' hands he offered in fights over the last few weeks simply a build-up to completely shock me? Enigma is one of the most mysterious men I have ever met. Like me, he keeps to himself a lot, and does not always explain his actions. I have a deep inner rage, Maxx, as you can probably imagine right now towards Enigma, but I gotta push him to one side until after Halloween Horror. My hands are full with The Crusher, plain and simple. He's a top athlete himself, and it would not benefit me at all if I should only half concentrate on him. But like I said, I need to sort things out myself and clear my head on my own. I don't usually react to losses like this, in fact, I don't have much to react to simply 'cause I don't suffer many losses, but this time it's really got to me. All the sh*t I said durin' the week leads to nothin'. And if the whole of the MCW turns it's back on me and calls me a lier, I can't argue with them or feel offended. 'Cause they would be right, Maxx."

[ MADD MAXX ] "No one's going to turn on you James. You're the reason why the MCW is so big now. Just look at the WeWA; they love you over there. You're a big part of the MCW's success IN the WeWA."

[ MANiAC ] "The MCW is still second-best to BACW and Lawrence Law, despite what Johnson may say to cover his face. The MCW with the few exceptions would still be demolished by the BACW if there ever were an event between the two federation's superstars. Over at BACW you've got Obsidian, Dee Jay Madrid, Lee Riel, Eddy Outlaw and Kodiak. Are there five MCW superstars who can take on these five? I think not. The MCW is advancin' forward...but currently we're still behind to the BACW. There is no point in foolin' the fans throughout the world, 'cause it shall be a slow process before we can ever have our name up beside the BACW's and even above it. Maxx, let's be realistic...Lawrence Law has Johnson's number, the BACW has MCW's number."

- Madd Maxx looked uneasy from Jones' comments. It was quite an uneasy situation now in whole for Maxx. James Jones was becoming more awake and alert and was dealing with Maxx's comments properly now rather than a completely broken man. Should he get up and leave now, or what? -

[ MADD MAXX ] "If you need time alone James, it's cool, I respect that. If you want a private interview or just a talk, I'm around Champ. Unlike 95% of the other Reporters, I've got a life too and understand the problems that you may face. You've got my number, right?"

- James stood up and nodded his head. Maxx now stood up, realising his cue, and shook the big hand of a still quite distraught James Jones. Maxx walked to the front door and nodded briefly at "Da Maniac" before walking out, banging the door behind him. James sat back down on the couch in the sitting room and stretched out, relieved that he had some time alone. Madd Maxx's appearance however had given him a determination to wake up out of this fit of depression and continue his reign as Unified Champion. -

[ MANiAC ] "You can thank Madd Maxx for me gracin' you with my presence today. I was goin' to remain silent and see what transpired from other people's Promos tonight, but have now decided against that. There is too much to be addressed, and there is so little time between now and Halloween Horror. Fallen, words cannot describe how I felt followin' the fight you and I had last Saturday night. For anythin' I would say to enlighten you on how I felt would be deemed too foul to be allowed on national television. What I will say; that whatever the outcome and however it happened -- you still gave me a fight like I have not had in some time. I cannot take anythin' away from your victory, other than the fact that I WAS about to get out of the cage via the door. Such is life; mistakes are made by people who don't realise what they have gotten themselves into. I for one do not believe that you and Enigma are in any kind of 'cahoots', despite the rumours that have been swirlin' around about a possible alliance. You've done somethin' not a lot can boast about -- You've defeated the Unified World Champion. Only a handful in my two year reign have done what you did last Saturday, so feel proud of yourself. Make use of the success whilst you have. For if you do defeat Scott Cross on Thursday Night - I will be ready for ANYTHIN' when I put the Title on the line against you followin' Halloween Horror. So wallow in your success while you can Fallen, and preach the Fall as loud as you like, but don't get used to the luxury. I'm still here, and I will stop at nothin' to win back an ounce of respect if nothin' more against you in the comin' weeks. Stay healthy for now, son."

- James is still physically and mentally drained, and can only manage a weak, but still somewhat effective smile. The smile is not of joy, but of sheer evil and bad intentions. He lies back on the couch, closing his eyes for a moment, finally able to do that. "Da Maniac" looks over with interest at the couch where his MCW World Title belt is, before finally looking up at the filming camera. -

[ MANiAC ] "Hey Crusher, yeah, it's time for our showdown. My how time flies. It was only a few weeks ago that I was sittin' back listenin' to you ramble about bein' the next Unified Champion, and now already we're within forty-eight hours of puttin' you to the test once more. This fight, it's not unfamiliar territory for either of us, I think you'll agree. We've fought before -- a lot of times. Of those times; you defeated me ONCE. You remember the circumstances back at Fear 2001 as to HOW you defeated me, but if I were you, I would not focus my attention on that fight. No, instead, I would think about those LOSSES at the hands of me. Not just once Crusher, I think you'll find out, much to your horror no doubt. But that is the past, as you have reminded me before, and it's best to get outta there and into the present and future in one. I'm ready, despite my current state of condition. I'm still quite ready to take you on Crusher. They tell me that this time you're a bigger threat than before...WELL SO AM I. It works both ways you see. Despite the fact that you have progressed and become a more dangerous athlete, it still should not take away from the facts of just HOW dangerous I can be. No, no, I'm not offerin' myself false compliments; I'm simply statin' a FACT. You've just gone through Scott Cross twice in as many weeks to get to me; I'm impressed. Now put Cross out of your mind. COMPLETELY. And take a quick glance at just what the hell awaits you on Thursday Night. Look past my current tired condition to the athlete you are more familiar with. The one who has defeated you on countless occasions. I don't expect you to roll over now and say you fear me; but just be wary Crusher. Be careful. For the last thing you wanna do is take me lightly. Think that because The Fallen stole a victory off me last week that you can counteract and become the Unified World Champion. I've failed once this week son, and if you have the intellectual power of a cow to think that I'm goin' to fail twice in a week; you need to get your head checked."

- It was only a stop to gain back some energy by James this time. He did nothing to wow us with. Just simply lay back and began to stare up at the ceiling. -

[ MANiAC ] "Failure has a bitter taste, wouldn't you agree, Crusher? I think you're familiar with that despise-worthy, disgustin' taste it emits into your lungs when you have failed. I don't think I'd be goin' too far to say that tastin' it once is deadly, but twice in a row is death-threatenin'. My point bein' Crusher, you've been on a sudden run of success lately. Two wins over Scott Cross isn't bad at all, whatever the circumstances. If you think that I'll settle for second place on Thursday Night, you would be politically incorrect. It's time for the smell to ease itself in through your nostrils, and for you to once more get that bitter taste - the one that causes you to shiver -- FAILURE. I'm not goin' to be tastin' it again for a long while, 'specially not at my first pay-per-view since winnin' the Unified Title. With the whole of the WeWA on their seats. This is still my time; f*ck what you say or believe...This just is. If you can't settle for that then I'm sorry, but capability is what separates the gods from the men. You know what I'm gettin' at Crusher; I don't need to go further into the depth of my words to get my point across."

[ MANiAC ] "What makes matters all the more annoyin'; we don't know what fight we're to be involved in yet. The Fallen decides, seein' as though he defeated me last Saturday night. When will he decide? Tonight? Tomorrow? Durin' Halloween Horror? All are believable suggestions, but the choice IS now The Fallen's. But Crusher, whatever the fight, wherever it should take place -- do not feel any more confident than you should. My mind has already raced past you to my next defence against either Fallen or Scott Cross. I'm sorry, but in my eyes it's a given that it shall be I who comes out on top at Halloween Horror. And why? Just take a look around you. The destruction...the blood...the terrifyin' stories men have to offer. They're all because of ME. My doin'. I've caused destruction, I've made people bleed to the point where it's a matter of life or death, and I've given men experiences they never want to relive again. Some of these see psychiatrists daily; unable to cope with the horror that awaits them once they close their eyes. How their neck was sunk into the floor with the Phenomenon - The Hypnosis. How their body was used like a truck without brakes. Oh I've seen and even felt the fear some now possess as a result of experiences with me. Are you willin' to go down that road, Crusher? All the way to a dead end, where everywhere you look, all you can see is nothin'? Are you prepared to throw away everythin' you've got and accomplished to achieve one goal that this currently unachievable and impossible? Take that on board, before you get yourself into the deep section, where the water in an instant could drown you. Either way; I'll see you on Thursday; and after that -- I have my doubts..."

- James gets to his feet, laughing for the first time in days. His stomach rumbled, demanding to be fed and fast. "Da Maniac" ignored it though, as he first walked to the corner and picked up the WWS World Title, before grabbing up the MCW World Title from the couch. He slung both over his shoulders, the WWS on his left and the MCW on his right. -

[ MANiAC ] "Enigma, you continue to come into my mind with the simple question; why? Why did you do it? Is there a logical and hidden explanation to this that I have foolishly overlooked or just missed? Have I been left in the dark over somethin' that, unaware to me, has been done? Or is there no explanation? Was it just a spur of the moment thing from you? As you can probably estimate, Enigma, I cannot tell. That pretty much is how I always have felt towards you. Even when we were friends and when we trusted you; I still could not figure you out at all. The reason for your existence. The reason for why you did this, and why that specific time. These are things that I was always left baffled by, though they did not worry me immensely. To me, you're an unstable man. Don't worry Enigma, I am not insultin' you. All the great men were unstable -- Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, Harry S. Truman. All of these men, as powerful and dominant as they once were, all were mentally unstable in one way or another. The same can be said for you Enigma. You blow hot one day, you blow cold the next. You may have the slightest smile or the largest frown inside the same minute. What this in turn means is that you're not always accountable for your own actions. Unless you stick by what you started out doin' throughout a period of time; it is simply not your fault for the happenin's that are caused by you. That is why I'm not all that angry at you. Don't get me wrong, I still am in deep shock, disappointed AND am angry, but not like I would be if someone else had done what you did. Simply puttin' it; 'cause I have to see what unravels followin' this. If you say you intended this mess to happen in order to pursue a rivalry with me -- then by God I shall unleash a reign of terror. Otherwise, it was just a stumble in the road, although it shall not go unforgiven at the same time. Enigma, I am eager to see your reaction to Saturday night...please break the ice in one form or another. James Jones is watchin'..."

- With these words "Da Maniac" points a finger at the camera as warning to anyone and everyone. He lets out a long and much needed yawn, before slowly walking out of the room and up the stairs, not caring how the cameraman got out as long as he did. It had been a long 72 hours or so for James, and now all he wanted was sleep, food and a wash. Best get them done fast. -

Reject
Are you no one
Feel you're nothing
You know I'll bet you think
You have a good reason to be living
In the limelight of the fortunate ones
you're too weakened by the poison
That they feed you in the living lie
They don't believe you
Care to no one
Trust in nothing
Little impotent one.

I don't want to be innocent, you know
I don't want to let them hypnotize me.

Punk ass, are you listening?
Can you hear me or are you deaf and dumb to my language?
Do the real words seem to hurt you
Well put em' up motherfucker
You'll feel it
When I stamp it on your forehead
So you will never forget
That you're a reject
And you're a no one
And you're nothing
Little impotent one

Fear awaken
Go with it now
And let it overcome you
Fear awaken
Your mind is racing

I don't understand why you don't like me
Why don't you like me?
Am I so diffrerent from you
Now does it scare you that I'm able to discern
What to love and what to burn
I'll add your fuel to the fire now
Stand back, brother take your hand back
Leave it and I might crack
More than a smile or two you see
Don't judge what you don't understand
You can't deny what has been given to me.
