I have chosen the Thomas Eakins: The American Realist exhibit that will be held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art from October 4,2001- January6, 2001. The exhibit will include 60 oil paintings, watercolor drawings, sculpture, and photography. Eakins's artwork celebrated sports, the outdoors, as well as the difficult times in American society during the reconstruction and post reconstruction eras. In the classroom we would focus on the reconstruction era & the state of our country. We would also discuss other artist during Eakins time period, for example Monet and Renoir, as well as new inventions during this time period.
