Dances with the Angels Tonight7copy;

The family gathered around
to witness his final exasperation.
To him the grand finale was
nothing but elation.

A fire lit within his heart,
he told them all good bye.
Then a single tear set sail
from the corner of his eye.

His labored breathing ceased
at a quarter after four.
The family shuffled around,
then they slowly closed the door.

The CNAs and RNs
rushed in to do their thing.
Was I the only soul
to hear the angels sing?

After we served all the dinner trays
and the dust of death settled down,
I swear to God I seen that man
dancing down the hall in his hospital gown.

There was a new smile upon his face,
and this was a rare sight.
He couldn't walk two hours ago,
now he dances with the angels tonight.
