Hello, I only came across this site, but hope it still works.

I am descended from a John Watt and Florence Emily Shields from Southland New Zealand. I am about 80% sure John is the son of Alexander Duff Watt being the only birth of John Watt that fits. Alexander Duff Watt definitely came to NZ and I think he died in Dunedin where he was regularly a resident of Caversham an older gentlemans home. He was married to an Isabella whom he divorced due to his constant absence and there are many court suits from and against the pair on paperspast.co.nz. Alexander did a few financial dealings that ended his marriage and he went bankrupt and was homeless. Isabella has a case against her, but was dropped for not registering a baby born just outside of Gore where the baby died in infancy while she was walking back to town.

I would be interested to hear back and learn more of the family in Scotland.
