Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages,
First off, more congrats are in order to you guys, as I got wind of the possibility of some advertising being put up on the site. That is the outstanding! The format is a solid foundation and can only get better the more acclamated you guys get.
Now, let's get down to business. As I stated in my previous take, the drafting of Sagana Diop. The NBA draft...quite possibly, for a die-hard hoops fan, one of the most anticipated and nerve racking nights of the year. For an NBA franchise, it represents the most important and critical night in the future of team. All the hours of preparation, research, film study, one-on-one workouts, etc. all to make the right selection; or to keep from making the wrong selection, depending how you look at it.
Now draft day in Cleveland has had its ups and downs, with alot of downs. We all know this. Let me get straight the Paxson era. Andre Miller & Trajan Langdon. AAAndre Miller, gonna get to that dotted line. One of the best young points in the league. It will be great to see the further maturation as Miller represents the country and plays in the World Championships. Langdon, create his own shot. How can someone play in the league that can't get to the basket. Chris Mihm, continues to improve, looked extremely comfortable at the 4 in the Utah summer league. Has added the 3-point shot to repitoire this offseason. Defensively, still a liability, has to improve lateral footspeed and get stronger. Overall, a solid selection. Sagana Diop, 18 years old...It will be a while before the Cavs see how good the returns will be on this kid. Look overmatched in the Utah summer league. Shot poorly, did not score around the basket, and got into foul trouble often fouling in bunches. Needs to get into much better physical shape. Like the Mihm of last year, needs to lose all the baby fat. Rebounded fairly well and showed a good feel for the game for a player his size. Jury still out, obviously.
Jim Paxson has little by little turned the franchise into the right direction. The team that he inherited was filled with overpayed, long-toothed contract for players that did not deserve and did not play-up to. Paxson had to right the ship, and bring his guys in. In defense of the Langdon pick, despite not agreeing with it, he felt he need someone who could stretch the defense and feed off the inside play of a healthy Illgauskas and a franchise player named Shawn Kemp. Both of the guys were coming off great seasons. We all know what happened with them.
Next,
What is the definition of a "Consistent Powerhouse?"
Wouldn't this team have to reach the finals of their playoffs more than once in the last 20 years. Wouldn't this team have to be a threat to win the whole thing. Wouldn't this team have to have more than 1 consistent All-Star. Wouldn't this team play the game of basketball with like they expected to win, rather then constantly throwing blows with their opponents. Teams that can play don't try to get their opponents thrown out, because they know they are good enough and talented enough to get it done. Teams that don't, need to try other means. It is extremely funny even to this day, I'm laughing out loud to myself as the image of Jeff Van Gundy trying to break up that fight between L.J. and Mourning, he almost gets himself killed during the altercation, CLASSIC! HAAA!
As far as the Knicks being a disappointment, they are. Ask people in New York. The Yankees have won, the Mets have won, the Giants have won, I think the Rangers have won, but who cares nobody cares about hockey, and then there's the Knicks. They haven't won since that big idiot ran out and every little Knick fan stood and convulsed with excitement, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, OH MY God it's Willis Reed, I have reached a total climax at this moment in time.
And then the name Michael was mentioned. Wow that Michael Jordan, he was some ball player. You'll be able to tell your kids about Michael Jordan, he played in our era. Another vision coming clear into my dome is that of Michael lighting up the Knicks over and over again. Yeah, the shot was nice, but so is Michael going left, hesitating back, then going baseline and cramming right on Ewing face. AND ONE, then Michael starts pumping his fist right in the ape man's face!
Yeah, consistently making the playoffs and losing, that is impressive. The Knicks are the joke of New York, I know it hurts to deal with, but it is true.
Thank you,
The C-Townian
