Actually, to be a deity, one has to know good from evil, and has to have had experienced mortality. Since Adam and Eve did not experience mortality nor knew good and evil until AFTER the fall, they were less like God than they would be after the fall. They couldn't progress until the fall. We know that to be a god is to progress in power, glory, and dominion--all things that Adam and Eve could not do until after the fall. Jesus was more like his Father at birth, because of his knowledge of good and evil, and gained mortality from his mother, than were Adam and Eve.
