Black Swamps
The black swams are a bit far away from the Bear Claw Valley. It's a huge swamp area with trees standing here and there and with a impressive bird- and wildlife. Hunters treasure the area and herbs who only grow in water is also found here to the joy of Shamans. It's also dangerous, because if you don't know where you are going you'll easily get stuck in the swamp and without help you might get sucked down and drown. Children are therefor often forbidden to go here without adults around.

    The Black Swaps were now different today then any other days. There were almost no wind, grey autumn clouds were filling the what used to be a blue sky and birds chirped carefully. It might not be long before most of them left for warmer lands, but again there would be some who would stay through the dark autumn. "Now, dear Rashi, tell me what plant that is," an old woman said. Her hair were shoulders long and black except some grey stripes here and there.
    The teen followed her glance. Even though she were younger, the Derba were still a bit taller then the girl. Rashi had long, curly light brown hair with paler sun stripes. Freckles covered her rounded nose and greenblue eyes were huge as she took in all knowlegde about herbs and medicine. "It's called a Yellow Lady," she answered, knowing she were right.
    "Good," the older women replied. "What's it used for?" Derba stopped by the strongly yellow flower with five leafed crown (stupid dictionary didn't have the word) and with the top one hanging over the others. It were a strange plant, and if you wanted to see it - you would manage to see the shape of a woman's body in it.
    "I do," she said and bendt down to pic some of the Yellow Lady, but not all. If she picked it all she wouldn't find any the next time she needed it. "You can make a tea of the blossom and give it to older people to help their heart beat, right? And if you make a porridge out of it and then put it on muscles and joint they won't hurt to bad as before."
    Derba nodded. "That's right, but not only 'older people' will need it. Anyone can be born with a bad heart and the Yellow Lady porrigde is good if you have stiff muscles from a long day of hard work." The old woman had sat down on one of the few roots that were there. It weren't wet so Derba had a nice seat were she could guide the younger teen. "Now... find me another herb, no matter what and tell me all you know about it."
    Rashi nodded as she put some of the blossoms from teh Yellow Lady at a bag she always had around her shoulder. She would dry them when she got home, but now she had to please The First Shaman by showing she knew what she were doing. Lanhi weren't a Shaman, but her aunt were once. Faith would have it that she never got any children so it were up to Rashi to learn the skill of the spirit world and the healing herbs. It suited her good. She smiled and continued looking.
