FIRE ENGULFS BUILDING; OWNER BLAMES THIEVES

The fire many residents saw last night was apparantly started by an Elementalist's spell gone awry during a street fight outside the building at 4110 Valor Road. A number of bodies were found inside the building, and caltrops and marbles were found on the floor. The fight was between a group of the guards of the building, which was apparantly the home of a group of researchers for a Crac'anian theoretical magic firm named Riverton Research Alliance (RRA), and another group, arguably thieves, drunken belligerents, or mercenaries hired by a competing company. The RRA representative in Por Tsar could not be found for comment. 8 guards and one intruder were detained for questioning. Their names have not been released. The fighting was fierce, and neither side laid down their weapons or disengaged when prompted to by a City Watch sergeant. The local constables were drawn into the fight, and it was not until a company of soldiers arrived from the military base nearby that the last combatants were completely subdued. One fatality, a guard, was reported. Commander Telbir of the Watch has declined comment as to whether the arrested intruder would be brought up on murder charges.
