Dawn of Thunder's entrance

The little painted mare dropped her head and nibbled at some grass near her front hooves.She was thinking of life,and what it would be like to be claimed by a stallion,something that had never happened to her before. Before this..she had always been 'too young', or so she'd been told.She looked out across the meadow where others stood talking,playing,doing the things a mare without a stallion did.Her ears flicking back and forth to catch whatever sound there might be,Dawn of Thunder thought of her mother,Queen of Night and her father,Dawn of Death,long since gone due to capture.Her mother had been captured when Dawn of Thunder was only 2 years old and her father Dawn of Death had pined so much for her it caused him to fall ill and eventually die.But that was long ago,she thought,and far from here.She'd traveled far from her birthplace in search of a new herd.After her father's death,her old herd had scattered to the four winds to find new herds to join or to form herds of their own.Dawn of Thunder felt out of place there and lonely without her parents.So she'd struck out on her own...searching for a place to belong to.Maybe now,she thought,maybe now maybe here I've found it.
