Tami,
This site isn't as active as it used to be so it has quit growing. The owner, Tess, had a horrible accident and broke her leg and hasn't been able to be online as much. The community was new so there hadn't been enough time to build the site and the closeness needed to keep the site functioning as well as it should.

About communicating to your doctors . . . well I can give you my experience. When I worked I worked in the medical field. Doctors appreciate it when patients come in prepared with clear questions and clear explanations of symptoms. It doesn't help to get emotional or cry until your doctor has some experience with you. Sometimes it helps to have a friend or family member come with you to explain how you were before symptoms started and how it has impacted your life. However, there are doctors who don't want to hear from anyone but the patient. It's a dilemna. You have to build a relationship with your doctor over time. But don't be afraid to fire him/her if they don't treat you seriously. FMS/CFIDS is real and most doctors acknowledge that in some way whether they believe it or not. The way you will know they don't believe is when they refuse to prescribe adequate pain relief or assume you are addicted. There is a big difference between dependency and addiction.

I will try to post more later this week. . . in the meantime you can find more information at fibrohugs.com or webmd.com Both are great communities. About.com also has a fms web-community with great information. I wish I had time to post the urls but I'm on my way out of town in a few minutes.

Good Luck and don't give up. There are good doctors out there.

Alison
