That other one, though, Xuxa, was that her name? She didn't seem very nice, cold and calculating. But today was not a day of petty grievances, today was a Hatching! Thaia noticed that Jumi was humming in tune to the Hatching noise, and Thaia felt her legs quiver as she took up the tune herself.
The Hatching was not like she thought it would be, it was better! Plus, her friend the BlueRider Inumé was coming, and maybe with some of those flits, too, for last she had heard, Inumé had been at the Beach, looking to Impress one. She smiled quietly in anticipation of the Hatching and looked at the eggs. I hope a bronze'll be first, that always means good luck. Dilly and her queen Amenth also looked happy that the Hatching was starting. I am too, this day may be the beginning of the rest of my life... The great walls of the Weyr seemed to encompass all the beauty and magic of the event, but how could they, really? The impact of one mind on another, the amazing feeling of joining...
How could anything hold that in thrall? Only death... a part of her whispered. But today was a Hatching, and miracle of all miracles, she was part of it!
