Lian had been watching the other Candidates and their new lifemates heading off, but the moment the queen's shell began to crack, she turned with a terrifying certainty to the egg. Somehow she knew, though how she knew was a mystery, that her lifemate had to lie within that egg. It wasn't egotism. It was simply a knowledge that slipped into her brain without her realizing it. And it made her all at once anxious for the egg�s inhabitant to cast off her shell. She cautiously moved closer to the queen egg, watching Sylventh carefully lest she be angered by this. However, as soon as the shell shattered, almost as if it were a porcelain piggy bank, Lian had eyes only for its previous prisoner. The moment the queen swiveled her gaze to rest upon Lian, she immediately locked eyes and strode purposefully towards the girl. As she mindspoke Lian, the farmer's daughter thought it sounded so familiar, it could have been the voice of family. {I am Veliruth. You Impress me, Lian.} With an incredulous grin sweeping across her face, Lian knelt in the sand, heedless of heat, and flung her arms about the gold's graceful neck. She was beyond words, and instead let the eloquent silence of her embrace take over. She was finally at home at last, linked for all time with this wonderful creature. Delirious with happiness, the pair strode out of the sands, but just before she left, Lian turned to survey the others still left on the sands. When she turned back, she caught a fleeting glimpse of Jyssa heading off and a flash of green hide at her side. She smiled and called out to her, jogging to catch up with her friend. Veliruth, though slightly confused, followed her new lifemate, not in the stumbling manner of some hatchlings, but with the quiet assurance of royalty. The two pairs walked in silence, both taking the time to revel in their newfound joy, as Rukbat set behind them, dusting all with a golden glow that matched perfectly the paeanic note on which the day had ended.
