The only way this is going to work is if everybody purchases one acre of land. We're not talking about thousands of dollars per person, we're talking about twenty or thirty dollars.

NASA will never be more than a bureacratic entity. Lunar Republic has already arranged with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to land its first probe in 2004, and will land a HUMAN scientific crew by 2006, and begin full-fledged colonization by the end of this decade.

Right now, they are in the planning stages of selecting the crew of scientist-astronauts to go on the first mission. Wouldn't it be great if Harrison Schmitt was on that crew, becoming the first "return visitor" to the moon as Walt suggested?

You get a nice deed, a nice property photo, a nice Lunar Republic flag sticker and an EXCELLENT lunar atlas on CD-ROM. And you get a nice feeling that something serious is being done toward getting us back to the moon again. It makes a great gift for friends, family, your boss or a co-worker, too. It is worth it just for the atlas of the moon alone.

You can purchase your own acre of land on the moon, or give an acre as a gift, at http://www.moonproperty.net. (You may have to cut and paste the URL in your browser.)

Lunar Republic is at http://www.lunarepublic.com.
