Yael stayed standing for the entire of Aranye's speech, her eyes moving swiftly across the parchment whenever the Master gestured to it. At one point, the apprentice moved forward cautiously and traced a finger along the drawing, outlining the blow-hole as she thought of its vital function. She smiled slightly on the remembrance of a time long past, when she had stood on the deck of her father's boat and they had watched a pod of dolphins shooting their exhalances into the air. That morning, the air had sparkled for hours after the dolphins had returned to the depths, for it had seemed that their breath lingered...

Yael snapped out of her reverie and just caught the trailing end of Aranye's last statement. She nodded slowly, then took a seat beside the other apprentices, knowing the lesson would go on. However, she wanted it to continue as long as possible. It was all fascinating to her, though she was most eager to work with the dolphins, and the sea, for she had grown up with the latter, and respected the former. A small, satisfied smile crossed her features as she awaited further instructions in the details of dolphin anatomy.
