Aranye nods to Marsua before continueing with the next lesson. "First before we go on, I forgot to mention that all the dolphin's sounds are produced in the air-sacks under the blowhole. Those sacks also help in the closing of the blowhole." Then she continues with the current topic. "Two key words are the melon and rostrum." She points to the melon, which is outlined in black on the poster. "Above the top lip, and below the blowhole. We would probably think of it as our forhead. It actually has a purpose, which I'll get back to in a moment. The rostrum is sometimes called the nose, snout, or beak. It's their mouth, with a scientific name." She points to the dolphin's prominent rostrum. "A dolphin uses his rostrum for digging and attacking enemies. It's hard. And as some of you may know, if a dolphin bumps you with it too hard, it hurts." She just below her collarbone- most of the dolphin's favourite places to nudge humans.
