Both Chava and Sh'muel knew the instant the pair went between. ~~A Southerner?~~ {{J'el, with brown Hilath.}} Though neither had known the boy or his dragon, they felt tears course down their sooty faces, leaving oddly clear ruts in the blackness. There was always a sadness when a dragon and his rider went between, whether you knew him or her or not. There was a special bond between riders, even those from different Weyrs, particularly acute during Threadfall. One just knew when another had gone; it was instinctive. Sh'muel stared helplessly up at Sinouth and her rider, wanting desperately to go comfort her, to be comforted. But no time. During Fall, there was never any time. They had to resume fighting, or else follow the pair into between. And that, Sh'muel was not ready for. He told Lirth to keep flaming; the bronze obeyed, glad to take his mind off mourning, but the draconic dirge continued to play itself through his head the entire Fall.
