Subject: .::'::.

.::.Rinali grit her teeth, running a hand through the mass of tangles she calls her hair. The bottom edges curled under the helmet and constantly brushed agaist her neck, causing it to itch constantly. The girl pulled it back deftly for the tenth time this Fall and returned the hand to its nessisary spot on the flamethrower. Her eyes danced in the flame it sprouted on the clumps of Thread, mingled with a hardness that had never been there before. Already this menece had claimed lives - too many lives - and she was determined not to be added to the list. If she ver became Weyrwoman, there would be optional classes for Weyrlings or Dragonriders to learn more techniques on flaming Thread. She wouldn't have names under her own for being unprepared. Lilith snapped her head around, eyes whirlig madly. ~Rinali, snap out of it! Fight now, think later.~ The goldrider blinked several times, then nodded. She aimed her nozzle and fired, then answered her dragon. `Let me handle the flaming, you just keep us out of the Thread. Deal?` The gold snorted and swerved, giving her rider the answer. Obviously it was yes. For the first time since Thread started to fall, the girl smiled and continued fighting.::.

.::.K'skin sighed and let his warm grey-black eyes rove the fighitng feild. Many had fallen one way or the other, but he was still up. With an almost bland assertion, he noted K'ndelek and most of the queens were as well. Something of a smile flickered over his stotic face as he watched Deneth convert another clump of Thread to ashes. Oddly enough, his eyes would release the scene of the ashes falling to the ground, then being swept up gently by the wind out to sea. It was too peaceful an end for the menece that had come upon Pern. With a muffled excitement, K'skin patted Deneth's back, giving him the signal to go all-out. The brown would have responded but for the moment he was concentrating on the firestone.::.

.::.Ain bounced gleefully on top of Nijith, wide blue eyes watching the other dragons char their way through Thread. `Nijith, can you really do it like that?` She asked quietly, still thinking about the coversation with her half-brother. He had just recently Impressed and she guessed it was hard to think about much else. ~Of course I can, watch!~ The blue grumbled, spreading his wings and dipping in the air. When he reached the lowest point of decent, he let out his flame and came back up, leaving nothing but ashes behind him. Ain eyed it critically and patted Nijith's hide. `Not bad for starters. But how 'bout we really give this stuff all we got?` The blue reflected for a moment, then nodded. ~Alright, but I am starting to get weary.~ Ain sighed and shook her head, handing over more firestone for Nijith.::.

.::.G'rein paled noticably when the next person out was T'run. He swallowed nervously and shifted in his saddle, eyes still drawn to the exact spot the Weyreader had been last. He knew that the story of this ThreadFall would be told for ages to come. It was one of the most brutal in history. Grenith picked up on his nervousness and shivered after charring a clump. ~G'rein, please don't think like that. I can't concentrate.~ she mumbled, chewing on more 'stone. G'rein started, but calmed down, shuddering and falling motionless. `Alright, Grenith, but try to stay away from that spot, will you?` The green spurted flame and veered away from the cold and uninviting spot, continuing on her journey, leaving on black ashes behind her.::.
