Henrius Prime,

I can honestly see your point and the outrage that comes of it, (refering to article "What do those symbols represent"), however I feel I must interject.
To begin with, within the rhelmes of the animatied series' "The Transformers", the diffrent faction symbols at one point in history did represent slavery positions of the workers and the gladiators. But just as in a lot of cases in real life, the bearers of theese markings took something unpleasent and made it their own. By taking pride in the symbols the characters removed the original power and replaced it with self-pride and positive meanings to fit each characters beliefs and goals.
I also would like to throw in that the autobot and decepticon symbols are no more or less important to each of their causes as is our american flag is to our cause or causes as americans. Or for any other country for that matter. We all, (people as a whole), wear symbols of one sort or another. And somtimes we take pride in them and sometimes not. I.E. work uniforms, team logos, company bages, automobile logos and names, sneaker symbols...ect, ect. Theese are all things that motivate us or displease us. But they all put us into diffrent little factions or pockets of society.
So are all symbols positive? No. Is it wrong to take pride in one if it represents your beliefs or goals? No. Is it wrong to force a person or people to be branded in some fasion? Yes of corse. But if those people change their attitude about it, It then takes on a meaning of personel pride and motivation to change the situation they are in.
But to ban symbols from cartoons, then where does it stop? Schools, churches and temples, military, goverments, nations? Symbols play a key part in all societies from the bottom to the top. All be it right or wrong, they are a means of communication, designation, direction, achivements, motivations, and pride. Frankly sir without them we would be lost.
I hope none of this offend you but rather allowed you to see that symbols are important not only in society but also personally. And that not all are bad and that some meanings can be altered to benifit all people.

Sincerely,
John P. Murphy
