When we try to INACTIVATE a time code for a specific user, we get the message, "There are transactions for the current year. The time code cannot be deleted or inactivated"

I am in need to some assistance with Dynamics 7. When the user tried to open Dynamics an incorrect path error came up; an open operation on table "SY_Pathnames" (3014). This has happened before and editing the dex.ini file corrected the problem, though we do not recall the correct settings for the file.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't know how to print any financial statements. I have printed my general ledger(Trial Balance), but I can't figure out how to print an income statement, balance sheet, Aged Accounts Receivable, Aged Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets with Acc. Depreciation an Net Book Value. Please help me, my project is due tomorrow and my instructor does not have any time to help me.

We are currently using the Accounting Modules. We are evaluating the Distribution Modules. Having done some research I know that there is no Logistics Module in Great Plains i.e. ability to track shipments intransit - both domestic and abroad. Is anyone using the GP Distribution Modules AND interfaced another package for logistics? Also, any opinions on the distribution modules would be much appreciated. we have both a wholesale and a direct-to-consumer businesses.

We have been using Great Plains Accounting Version 8.1 running on Novell's Netware 4.11 Server. Can someone advise if we can extend the operation over a dial-up connection (via regular data replication) to enable us work on the same DB from two differently located LANs?

Alternately, please suggest where to find technical support on the GP Accouting Version 8.1.

And start posting again. The thing to remember is: do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles everyday?, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! When printing statements I just want to print accounts with balances > 60 days, but I want all their recent information to be included on the statement. If I select "Accounts>60" it excludes any activity within 60 days. If I print all account I end up throwing out 100's of statements. Any suggestions?

I'm trying to create a statement comparing the entire budget for my company to the real expenses so far. I've imported the whole budget from excel successfuly. By going Inquiry-financial-actual vs real you can compare one particular account to the budget's corrosponding figure which is nice, but it doesn't seem to allow you to compare all of the accounts on one sheet. Only one at a time. I tried going the quick fin. statement route going reports-financial-quick financial, which brought me closer to what im trying to accomplish. However, there was no actual vs real variance. Just one column showing the current YTD and one column showing the budget. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Is there any way to determine what company GP is logged on
to from an external program? I can poke around in DEX.INI
and find the server name. I can look in the Dynamics DB at
ACTIVITY and see "somebody" logged on, but nothing obvious
to connect the row to a particular GP session (I know you
can look at the UserID field, but these guys all log on
with one ID).

Any ideas?

We are using Great Plains eEnterprise Dynamics software. We are using the AP module and importing AP information via the Integration Manager.

My question is once I forward the information into GP and GP cuts a check on that AP (or several APs), I want to be able to query into the SQL Server database to find the check number and check date? e.g. query into the database using the vendor code and his invoice number to find check information. I am extremely proficient at using SQL, but I have no data diagram so I don't know where to start looking in the database (tables, views, etc). Is there a simple way to do this?

Subject: backorders and orders to invoices

We have just installed the Great plains system 2 months ago...it seems to have taken our process here many more hours to do what we did with the old system. My question is this....is there any way that we can input an invoice without going to an order first and then being able to print the invoices for your branch only? We have 6 different branches and we are not able to get this to happen....also, we are having alot of problems with back orders....sometimes the product is already reaceived but the order cannot be transfered to invoice even though the inventory is there. Does anyone know how to get around this either? Any information will be appreciated....thanks

We are upgrading ( replacing) our workstations to Windows 2000 pro. The workstation setup runs but gets errors about the config.sys and autoexec.bat. I have edited the config.nt and autoexec.nt to match the windows 98 workstations we are now using but I get the error " workstation not configured.." has anyone gotten 9.5 to work with 2000?

My company is using AR in Great Plains for Windows 9.1 as well as the DOS version (newer stuff won't do something they need).
After attempting to change location of the data files on our network using Windows Explorer, I am unable to get past the error that my 'AR xxxx file is in use.' The file will vary depending on what we try to do. The files are NOT in use however. Does anyone know how to make Great Plains Accounting stop believing files are in use?

We are running GreatPlains6.0 with SQL2000. We faced the two problems on Project Budget Module.

Problem

1. Each time input the transaction from Client Machine to server. It creates machine hang. However, we directly input the data on Server, no problem.


2. When we created 1000 transactions on Server, then we do the system generation. The system generated more than 2GB sizes on table "PA01304". It is no logic that 1000 transactions will create more than 2GB size.

Please help !!!

Subject: Migration to new server

My question deals with moving a functioning GP Dynamics drive to a new server (to replace the old one). I recently built a new server to host our GP Dynamics on for our company. I used DiskImage and made a image of the original drive...not a boot drive either. I would like ot be able to pop this new image into another system and run it from there. Although I can connect ok, I'm getting strange table erros now. Is this going to work for me? I really don't want to call in the consultants for 1000$ a day. Perhaps someone can give me some pointers.

Can someone please describe the exact events that impact onhand inventory in the Dynamics systems? E.g. Batching transfers, receipts and asemblies effect onhand inv but there is no impact prior to batching. What happens during sales order processing? Does fullfilment or invoicing impact inventories? Are there other events?

I was looking up the history of an account in the Cards: Financial: Account History window and accidentally changed one of the numbers in the Debit column. Not knowing what the number was to begin with, I tried to leave the window and tell the program to NOT save changes. I clicked on the X to close the window and a window popped up asking me if I wanted to Do You Want to Save Changes? The button choices were Save, Delete, and Cancel. I tried Cancel but that just meant cancel closing the window - the Account History window remained open. Then I tried Delete figuring that Delete meant Delete the change I had accidentally made. Well, Delete meant delete all of the history from this window. (Weird that it didn't warn me and that I didn't have the option to revert to the correct information but...) It also meant that the account information no longer is available for financial reporting etc. The information still exists in the database somewhere because it does come up when I did an Inquiry: Financial: History Detail search on the account. I now need to get the Card history for the account to reappear. I suppose that I could manually enter the information into the Account History window associated with the card but won't that mess with my ability to reconcile at year end? Please advise!

I am looking for a utility that will allow me to import vacation, sick, and holiday hours into the Great Plains HR module from a flat file or from a Microsoft Jet database file. I can use Integration Manager to pull Time and Attendance data into payroll,but not HR. I have been told that Integration Manager does not work with the HR module and my efforts so far have proved this to be correct.

I bought a new computer with windows xp and cannot get my Great Plains version 8.1 to run on it.
I can open the program and navigate but when I try to enter transactions I get a message that says "option not available" HELP!
