Subject: Mare wandres in, newborn colt following closely by

The colt was just a few meager days old, and still a spraggly thing, but dances beside his mother with enthusiasm - looking in wonder at this new place, clearly having the same curious nature his mother possessed.
His coat is a beautiful palomino, and his face with a certain quality of the arabian's - though other, more distinguished features tell that he is no pure bred, though in the wild that is not important.
His legs are long, and take him with leaps and bounds along - sure sign that in later life he would be an athlete, if that is, he wre to survive to later life.
The mother watches him anxiously. Another foal she'd born, this colts twin, had passed away, and now it had become certained in her mind that this colt would share that same fate; but she will watch him with the aggressive protection that only a mother could reserve for a child.
She begins to graze on the sweet grass, all the time keeping a close watch out for dangers or the unwelcomed approach of a stallion - who she would lash out as in angry defense for the vulnerable colt.
