my grandmother sang this song to me and her mother sang it to her. im positive that it was an actual recorded song, but i cant find lyrics or sheet music or the actual title of it anywhere. The lyrics i know go like this...the warship had landed and i swept ashore, the fighting was over for me ever more, for i had been wounded and left there for dead, a stone for my pillow and snow for my bed, the enemyu found me and took me away and made me a prisoner of war so they say, then God and his mercy were with me one day, the gates were left open and i ran away...etc; if you can help me find the original artist of this song i would be forever grateful. please email me @ kristimontgomery@hotmail.com if you have any info. thanks so much.
