In the cool wee hours of a lonely night
Brrrrrr!!
Turned my coat collar up to the cold,
Standing under a street lamp I lit a cigarette,
Phhhhhpp
Curls of smoked edited my view
3am, morning,cold, yet crisp,
Iooking up
Stars created a vast canopy of soft light
looking around...
It was almost deserted, felt so alone
Eyes mooved down the street where lovers walked
locked in a deep bliss of affection
One could almost hear their cooing and moaning
Images faded back into almost dreamlike state
A little animal scuttled in front of me
Squikkkkkk
What was that!
Wow!
I thought and said out loud
"Wow it was beautiful",
No one either heard or listened
Totally alone
I was like an echo, a shadow.
This play of the night had me fascinated
In the distance, siren wailed its' sad message
Flashing lights, screaming, begging
Poor souls
Emergency had called out to be part of my muse
Wind gathered and softly rustled trees in dimly light park
Drunk on a seat woke for an instant, yelled, went back to sleep
I listened....
Dead Silence!
Noise became a waiting Hush
Slowly I walked down the cobblestone road towards home
I reminisced on what might have been
Here I was a Figure alone, walking in the night
I realised my part in the play this night had been important ..Yet..insignificant
Sun was just rising on city
Somewhere a rooster crowed
......I was nearly home
