In reply to: James P. Brinker 's message, "Recon Co. E 2/502 101st airborne 1970" on 22:38:57 12/26/00 Tue

I realize this message is quite old, but you never know. I am the younger brother of William E. Dillender. Bill served with 101st E Company 2/502 from arrival in VN in July 1970 until November 1970 as a radio man. I understand he spent time in the Ashaw Valley. He volunteered for helicopter gunner and moved to B Company 101st Abn Btn, 101st Avn, in November 1970 (Kingsmen at Camp Eagle). Became crew chief in December 1970 and was KIA during Lam Son 719 on 03/20/1971, extracting ARVN from PZ Brown (With Major Jack Barker, Capt. John Dugan and PFC John Chubb).

I have been unable to make contact with anyone who served with Bill as a grunt and am hoping to do so to learn more about his and other's service on the ground. If you served in this unit or knew Bill I would like to talk with you and I would be greatly appreciative of any information.

Thank You Dan Dillender
