Possible Treatment???????? -- Tony Lea, 13:59:08 02/03/03 Mon

My 35 yr old son is dyslexic and, as an earlier posting, was ignored at all schools as the problem was not recognised then. We knew his daughter, now almost 8 yrs old was also dyslexic and history is repeating itself. I even gave her 1st.junior school the video and brochure from DDAT (training the cerabellum to 'talk' to the thinking part of the brain) but this was ignored. The poor child cannot understand why she simply fails to 'understand' and it hurts her terribly to be called "Dummy" by her peers.Has anyone any experience of improvement in their 'situation' after taking Omega 3 Fish oils high in EPA and DHA which was featured on TV recently. My heart breaks to see her anguish.I spend time trying maths and spelling but get nowhere and her lack of concentration, mood swings, hyper activity etc. continue. A version of the fish oil is named Pulse "Omega 3" Pure Fish Oil though that featured on TV can be found at www.equazen.com/. Any response welcomed

Dyslexia -- Nates, 07:38:31 11/25/02 Mon

I, like many others am dyslexic, I have gone through Primary all the way up to College with out a single help from them. My mother knew that there was something wrong with me, so she had me do this test. This was in primary school. She even told my teachers back then that i was dyslexic, but my teachers disagreed with my mother even though my mother had proof. Anyway im 16 yeras old now and i attend college. They at least are giving me the offer to help me because of my dyslexia. It just pains me that i was cast aside like that at school just because the teachers couldn't be botherd to help me. P.E wasnt much help either, with me being dyspraxic. I was forced to climb ropes by pressure. After all that has happend to me, i still turned out to be quite smart thanks to my family and a special thanks to my mother who was beside me all the way, and she still is. This measage goes out to everyone, Being dyslexic is not easy at all, books and dyslexic teachers say that we make up excuses that we are dyslexic so we can't do this and we can't do that. But sometime they are telling the truth. When i had to write 2 paragraphs, it was like writing a whole book. Also attitue gets no-where with a dyslexic, they will only take it to heart. Im not sayin that this is with every dyslexic person, im only saying that this is wat it was like for me. and i would like to thank this meassage board, its allowed me to get a lot off my back, and my brain. Thanks

Nates

I'm one of the amount people who have dyslexia, i've found out today when my college sent me a letter saying that i might have that problem.I thought i was alone in this but as a matter of fact i'm not, since i was a little child i been always alone, maybe because i feel insecure around other childrens. This all happened because of my social life and the way some people treated, for example my mother who never give me so much love and frequent abuse, maybe because she was a temperamental and stricted mother.I'm been always the same person even as hard as they want me to change, i am very quiet and sensitive, that's why i used to do lots of mistakes because i was conffused and scared, so i end up doing the wrong choices. My mother left me with my grand-parents at the age of 10,when she decided to come to live in England. My life without my frustracted mother was good i felt like i can have the freedom and do whatever i want, like go outside with my friends and play football or other different activities.
Unfortunality my gran-parents couldn't handle me anymore because probably i wasn't the quiet child that my mother left behind,So they decided to tell my mother and at the age of 15 she sent for me and my little brother and brought us here to England.
When i came to this extrange planet, i saw everything different, the culture, the language, the weather all the atmosphere was very different to my home planet.
i became the quiet child again because i was different to the other kids in the school.
I'm 21 now and i'm very concerned about everything that is around me, still would take me some time to feel equal to everyone else and have the freedom, confidence and happines i used to have before.
Life is complicated they way some people live it, so is better you create 'ur own world and the people you want to live with.
i forgive my mother and now she understand me more,i would never put the imaginery block at her anymore andbe more open with her even if she still give me headaches hehe one advise for the kids with the same problem is break out slowly from the cage is holding you i know u would find the key of 'ur freedom don't just sit there and wait! Peace.
thank you!

Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids -- Tony, 09:42:22 02/12/03 Wed

I recently asked if anyone had experienced improvement with their dyslexia after taking the above on a daily basis. One brand is 'Pulse' from Seven Seas. It would appear the EPA and DHA contained in the pure fish oil could improve the 'condition', and is apparently essential for brain development. Was high-lighted on GMTV recently. The 'Pulse "Omega 3 Pure Fish Oil" is fairly expensive but worth it if it helps dyslexia. Any comment from 'sufferers' or parents please.

Music -- Michael King, 06:32:10 01/07/03 Tue

Hello

I am just coming to teams with dyslexia and I am a 42 musician, I have been studying Music for thirty years. Because dyslexics are treated like untouchables, I have had to study without the general pampering that none dyslexics are readily lavished with, an Education.

The effects of the Education I received, left me feeling as if I had committed unspoken crime.
I felt bitter and isolated, I entered my life confused, rejected, and frightened.

I studied alone, to the point of exhaustion. My subject is Digital Music Devises (Record Production) and I play Bach on the Trombone. I learnt how to design Educational Music Computer Software, this took 12 years. Still I have no Music Qualifications. I sent my work Yamaha Research and Development they were so impressed with my work that they created a link to my web site. I am the first person in the world to have imagined and created a Music Program to control a Yamaha DB50XG (Music Synthesizer). I have the backing of the Worlds largest Musical Instrument Manufacturer.

I have created a link from my web site to yours. You might be interested

http://www.freewebs.com/synthesizers/index.htm

Please get back to me I can teach Music to dyslexic in the Redhill Surrey area if you are interested.

Yours faithfully

Michael King
