Missy-Jo, sorry to post such an off-topic message, but there were several people who contacted me through the Contact Admin list asking where I was and how I am, and I didnt' have an e-mail address for them. I wanted to answer, and thank them for asking.

First, to anybody who's sent me e-mails, I'm sorry I haven't answered, there's been so much going on here, I barely remember to check mail. Some of you will have gotten my e-mail by now, but I wanted to check in here, to reply to people who sent questions through the Contact Admin link for me. For those who know this, bear with me, please.

My aunt Barbara had breast cancer and a radical mastectomy two years ago. Last month, she had surgery on her foot, a preventative measure for her Charcot-Marie-Tooth. They had to take her off blood thinners for a week before the surgery. After the surgery, the quack doctor put her back on double the dosage she should've been taking. It cause her to have a stroke - cerebral hemmorhage - in the middle of a tornado-producing storm.

Okay, I'm turning this into a long story, let me shorten it if I can. Because she'll never be able to take blood thinners again, they put in a Greenfield filter to catch the blood clots of the future, moved her to the rehab floor for 3 weeks, and then sent her home. She was home a week, then back in the hospital for three days with blood clots - a solid wall of them from her knee to her hip, in the paralyzed side. The day she went home, they found clots in her left leg as well. Home again for six days, and yesterday, mom had to call 911 because we thought Barbara had another stroke. Slurred speech, confusion, extra weakness in her bad side.

Long and short of it - they LifeFlighted her to Erlanger in Tennessee, did a CT scan, and said she had swelling but no fresh bleeds in the brain. Put her on steroids for the swelling, her speech started improving. Today they did another CT scan - big change. Fluid on the brain, and a mass that wasn't there yesterday. They were taking her for an MRI, it's been long enough now since they put in the filter, that she can have one done. Still waiting on word from the neurosurgeon, on what it is, and if she needs emergency surgery. I've got everything ready to go, if she has to have surgery.

The hospital she's in is about 75 miles from my house, I was at the local hospital yesterday afternoon, went to TN, and got home about 3 this morning. Slept in until my body said to get up, then got the call from my cousin about Barbara. I'm waiting to hear now whether I need to get back up there.

Prayers, good thoughts, well-wishes, happy vibes - any and all of those are welcome for Barbara, she's been through so much, and I honestly don't know if she has it in her emotionally to fight any more. I'll try to check in here and update again, but if I have to leave in a hurry, it might be a day or two before I can get back on.
