For a moment the thought crossed his mind that the tightning of her arms around his waist was in responce to his kiss. But the saner side of his brian quickly dashed that though for a more logical one, she feels sorry for you, nothing more. He wanted so badly to believe the first thought, but he knew the second was much more likely. Her soft sniffle only served to compound his mental battle as he had no clue what he'd done to make her cry. He wished very much at this moment, that he better understood women. She was sending him the most mixed signals he had ever seen given to one man. She had snuggled against him as if to seek comfort, but then had pulled compleatly away and turned her back on him. What did she want? Maybe she didn't know, she was very young after all. You scared her, you fuck. Your almost twice her age, your easly twice her size, and your very obvoiusly intrested in her, moron! Not to mention that he was half drunk and she knew it, that could scare any woman.

Without even thinking -let alone consolting the sane half of his mind- he reaches out, laying a hand over her arm. He couldn't think of anything to say, mostly because he didn't know why she was so upset. Maybe it was something he'd done, or maybe it was something that had been brought to the surface from her memories. Only she knew.
