I truly have no idea. At the time of Epiphany, I was kind of glad Darla was gone, because I was emotionally scarred from the post Darla/Angel sex behavior.

Yes, the writers really should have thought out all the characters' storylines and kept them in balance with the main Darla arc.

They already hate the baby. I read one post where someone said that they hoped that Darla was carrying some great evil and it would kill her like the Alien baby in Alien the movie. Some even say it goes against canon "established" in BtVS' Bad Eggs where Angel says he can't have babies with Buffy. To that I say, "canon, shmanon!" As long as ME writes a good storyline with the baby, it's fine in my book.
