Subject: What do you think of wars?

We were discussing about the American situation the other day, and we got on the topic of war. As a Christian, how are we supposed to think about wars? On the one hand, Jesus tells us to love even your enemies, and turn the other cheek, but on the other hand, we hear about 'holy wars' and battles fought 'in the name of God' (and our Christian God, mind you).
What are you thoughts?

ohh..gee this is deep..anyway..one thing's for sure and that is the taliban diplomat for afghanistan and his translator are pretty crap at lying...haha even i can lie better than that..i saw an interview on TV and it got to a point when the reporter scavenged too deep into bin Laden's whereabouts and they simply walked off the interview cos they think they were revealing too much..and what's this about "oh the taliban officials cannot find him(Osama)." YEAH RIGHT MY BUM. they're guilty of their crimes and should deserve to be wiped out(including those who supports them financially). im with the free world coalition. MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

(ok...i got bored of studying, so i thought might check out the site...! )

i kept on thinking about one thing..! let's say the muslims do win this so-called "holy war" they are just looking at what they can see at the present, in their tiny little square, they are not thinking about the consequences. If the USA, and the coalition lost...which mean the world is controlled by Osama biLaden! They are not really thinking about the whole notion of "holy war" just b/c he says is a holy war, doesnt mean it is a holy war, im sure god will know there is not such thing as a holy war, and if there is, im sure is it not wat he wants to see, he wants to see love and peace, with LOGICAL thinking! (um..i dunno how to explain all this in words!)

i guess with us being christians we are being faced with a hard decision, on one hand it is true that Jesus told us to love our enemies, but on the other hand, who doesnt want justice to be served, especially when it might be infringing ours?! personally, i think the USA had given them a lot of chance to hand him over...but they are just silly! awww...! they just cant see what that UGLY MAN is after!

Well, its certainly a mouthful you have mentioned above. I just think that a holy war is very meaningless. If its a holy war then the one who has the authority to declare it could only be god himself. I doubt God had told Osama that directly. As we have already seen in history, the holy wars of the crusades is quite meaningless, killing ppl just because they believe in something different and in the end, there is no end because there could be no end so why bother fighting? After all those years, all religions are still fighting for their piece of Jerusaluem. Wars just start problems, but never solves them.
