Subject: Winter Days

I regret the fall of summer,
autumn always freezes in my veins.
Confusion sets in admist the fogs
and the ever lasting freezing rains.

I'd be too modest to say I didn't care
about the black skies drawing nigh.
Orion is falling to lie on his side.
The hilltops shiver beneath Heaven on high.

The undressing trees now dance in kinky ways,
entwining and embracing like never before seen.
I often ask what are we doing here,
this is one of nature's private dreams.

Colorful leaves falling through the air
to trespass on the cold, harsh ground.
Hibernating creatures seem to get a search warrent
to seek comforts from the abusive northwind hounds.

The leather ground seems to shrink
and hugs the earth with all of its might.
Once abundant summer streams are dwindling
You say you want to go fishing, you're kidding, right?

Goosebumps line my body and I cringe
in pain and huddle to seek warmth immediately.
Falling summer sunsets depart for good
allowing the harvest moon to be a celebrity.

Fading summer now resides in only my memory.
I'm facing my 22nd winter this year.
Not looking forward to hanging icicle lights
and trying to get into that holiday cheer.

I'll enjoy the splendid fireworks in the trees.
I'll enjoy the last few rays of the sun.
I'll enjoy a now ice-free winshield
for winter's days have nearly begun.
