well there's more to it than that...
eli, you used a lot of great imagery, but you incorporate it in so naturally that it's like you didn't even have to try. it is so smooth, like it jjst comes out.

Subject: A Common Problem

I lost my finger
Opening a can of tuna
Unable to grasp and turn,
I suspected sabotage
But my forefinger was no more
Access to my tuna was denied
I was glad there was no pain, granted,
and I know losing fingers in life
just happens
But I had become attached to this finger
I'd had it sized to fit just right
So I vowed to search it out
I only hoped I had the other nine
when this odyssey was finished

I sat down to plan
Working by candlelight to save energy
Who knoew how long I'd be gone?
I took a sip of soda
and placed it back on a rewriteable

That's when I noticed it
Lying next to a stack of cd's
Why I didn't look there first
I don't know
I tried not to let the other fingers
see my shame

I snatched up that finger
Reattached it with a piece of gum
Sugarless
And marvelled at the sight,
like priceless art,
of my hand
making the "okay" symbol

eli
