congratulations triste!!!!!!!
your poem just completely consumed me in more ways than one. it was very emotional and intense and had an incredibly surprising and loving ending. the rhyming and flow were excellent and you incorporated all the elements required very smoothly. i have to admit, i tried to write for this challenge and had a heckuva time and finally got too frustrated to finish.

great job!! you had some very tough competition once again too!!! sooooooooo even MORE of a congrats to you!!!

Subject: Almost Good-Bye

You�re quiet an enigma, I can�t figure you out
But there is one thing that I will never doubt
The astonishing depth of your love for me
For it is plainly visible for all to see

I�ve made a mistake, I told you some lies
With nowhere to hide, I must look in your eyes
A devastating pain and hurt is revealed to me
The look of someone mortally wounded in an infirmary

Just last night we happily dined on pasta and wine
For all appearances, our relationship was fine
You fed me strawberries and tenderly kissed my lips
Please don�t let that all end because of this

I know you are very deeply hurt by this revelation
Our love may be headed for eternal damnation
Like the famous Mona Lisa, I have lost my smile
Only separated by a few steps, but it feels like a mile

The lies standing between us seem to build and accrue
Daring to risk rejection, I reach out to touch you
You pull away from me, and I begin to cry and wail
Maybe it�s animal behavior, but reason won�t prevail

I retreat to the bedroom and pull out my diary
Reading over the happy entries about you and me
Plans for our future, dreams of a white wedding gown
Now in the depths of my lies, those dreams may drown

I feel a hand on my shoulder and look up into your eyes
Though I still see your anger, I now clearly realize
As you pull me into your arms where I long to always be
I know that the big door to your heart remains open for me
