Subject: The First Love

I sit adrift in this dreamlike state wondering about life.
“In the beginning…” Oh, how I wish I could start over
because the beginnings are always romantic.
Gifts of hearts, gold, poetry and bands of copper.

My best learned philosophy is that you shouldn’t philosophize
Let your heart yawn in a morphine smile
For it will all soon come to form dust anyway.
Sometimes you must laugh with the pervert to escape the butcher’s dial.

Prozac will not seduce your dreams into better reality.
Love is always tricky the second time…
By then, you know their lies and cunningness
Somewhat, and reluctant to re-enter love’s clime.

The heart doesn’t shine like the sun.
Oh, back to the beginning I want to return!
Back to the beginning when we both flirted in smiles
And the sky didn’t burn.

It’s OK, it’s OK… I know that hurting is healing.
I know that the romantic dreams fades.
I am like any true Taurus, stubborn as hell
And sometimes I forget there will be other days.

Danger is what they want…. Men…
That’s what they want, to love what they can’t keep.
I would give anything not to be able to feel
And drift blissfully into dreams so deep.

I am not here to boast atop my soapbox through a megaphone
Only romanticizing over the wonder that disappears.
Like a silent tornado raging ever so closer…
You frigid heart threatens but never comes so near.
