Subject: Living In A Lighthouse

When I settled down, a lighthouse was my home,
after a poignant heartbreaking life, no desire to roam.
I refurbished the place in an ingenious matter,
a comical look worthy of the mad hatter.

Just like Alice, I lived in a parallel universe,
if I received suicidal threats, things would be worse.
In the absence of disturbance I was able to relax,
no telephones, no email, and never a fax.

My wife stumped by my clever disguise,
as I looked into her urgent eyes.
Asking why this place reeked of the mad hatter,
and why wouldn't I ever walk under a ladder?

No watching General Hospital or paying Ma Bell,
or taking a computer for repair to Dell.
Was tired of the mouse locking up every day,
who cares if I have Alzheimer's anyway?

No emergency room here, I own a first aid kit,
my wife misses the malls, she's having a fit.
She told me that I'm not living here right,
but I won't turn that light on at night.

Don't want anyone to know that I'm here,
I moved out here so I could disappear.
Now she's telling me that I'm not too smart,
all because I won't take her down to Wal-Mart.
