Tourney Fields

Lying parrallel to the Jousting tilt, yet seperated by the stands, is a large fenced area, the tourney. A number of decoys stand scattered around the field, some dressed in potato sacks or simply wound straw, many quite battered. An open shed nearby shows the use of this area. Inside are wooden swords, overly-heavy blunt metal swords, blunt axes,spears and wooden shields lying in wait. Any of these practice weapons may be used.
The tourney competitions consist of two teams, each fighting each other as if in battle, but with wooden swords, and in good humor.

    Entering the tourney area, gaze catches the glint of sun.. reflecting off of the other's sword, tracing the fine edge of the weapon, he shakes his head and turns to check onthe girl following.
    Reaching the supply shed, he unlatches the wooden building and swings the door open, gesturing her to look inside.
    "Pick your sword. The large heavy ones are mainly for tourney practice, used to strengthen your arms. The wooden ones take the place of a regular combat sword, often used on horseback. The thin pointed ones are fencing swords.. Take your pick"

    A slight sneer covers his face at the heavy, unmanagable weapon, accompanied with a small chuckle. "Pity the soul who takes to fighting with one of these." Drawing his own blade, hidden cleverly within the folds of the enveloping black cloak, he eyes it critically. It catches the sun, razor blade glinting as snow. The handle is roped, with a small diamond set in the center, also reflecting the sun with brilliance. "Father, I do not deserve this blade...but you wished me to have it..." A flash of sadness and shame flicker over handsome features, but is quickly replaced with a determined glance...
